Our February and March dates have been booked since we announced them, but NEW July 2023 DATES JUST ANNOUNCED! Click for more.
Our inaugural Oaxaca City week in September was a great success at the home of grammy-award-winning singer, Lila Downs!
We enjoyed seeing old friends Tom, Marsha and Leslie as well as meeting new friend Peter. The house worked great for us as it has a traditional outdoor wood-fired clay comal or tlaquil for our tortillas as well as open air grills. Then we also had out wonderful indoor kitchen with the domed brick ceilings and ample space to cook up Oaxacan delicacies.
We visited the incredible church and museum at Santo Domingo as well as the botanical gardens which were FABULOUS! Wonderful museum exhibits to see intricate artifacts face-to-face.
We took a tour and had a tasting of the palenque or mezcal production company run by a family of sisters. If you love Mezcal, this is the tour of a lifetime
Did I mention the wonderful artisans that we visited? Jacobo y Maria Alebrije wooden scultures, intricate woolen tapestries and black pottery – all right from the producers.
Later in the week we went out to Chef Alex Ruiz (“Casa Oaxaca”) to visit his farm-to-table open air restaurant on the outskirts of Oaxaca to cook some incredible dishes and see how he produces his own ingredients. It was an experience. Since this week has become so popular we decided to add two more weeks – July 2-9, 2023 and July 9-16. Don’t wait! This experience with Chef Ana cannot be missed!
