One of the week’s highlights is the Alex Ruiz cooking experience, featured on CNN’s “Searching for Mexico” with Eva Longoria. Alex Ruiz is a renowned chef who has created some of the best restaurants in Mexico. He brings his expertise to Oaxacan cuisine, creating dishes that blend traditional techniques with modern.
Guests will visit the bustling Central de Abastos in Oaxaca with Chef Ruiz and select the day’s ingredients, meet vendors, and learn about Oaxacan ingredients. As if that weren’t enough, you will see how freshly toasted and ground Mexican chocolate is made, and bring some to cook with! MMMMM!
During the farm-to-table cooking experience at his ranch just outside of Oaxaca City, participants learn to make some of Alex Ruiz’s signature dishes, including mole, tlayudas, mezcal cocktails, and maybe even this incredible dish which you have to try to believe – vegetable ceviche. Participants get a hands-on experience in preparing the dishes, using local ingredients and traditional cooking methods. The adventure takes place in a beautiful outdoor setting of his ranch, surrounded by the lush greenery of Oaxaca’s countryside.
